Methodology of cooling tower riser pipe's hook cutting

POWER MECH PROJECTS LTD

                                BALCO 4 X 300MW, EXPANSION PROJECT                           FOR CUTTING OF C.T.RISER PIPE’S HOOK        UNIT# 1 & 3 & 4

  
PURPOSE: - Methodology of cutting of temporary hook.
SCOPE: - This procedure will cover the requirements of cutting of temporary riser pipe hook
TECHNICAL CONFIGURATION: - Presently temporary supports cutting work is to be performed. So for cutting the hook support, we will adopt the following procedure.
MAJOR PLANT & M/C DEPLOYED:-
           Capacity/SWL                                                       Quantity
1. Gas Cutting Set                          :                   01 Nos.
2. Oxygen Cylinder                         :                   01 Nos.
3. LPG Cylinder                              :                   01  Nos.

  PROCEDURE: -
1.    According the situation of the temporary hook support, the rope ladder and necessary fall arrester will be prepared with proper approach and its required PPEs and 25 mm life line will be provided for anchoring the safety harness.
2.    During cutting work the affected area will be barricaded. The gas cylinders will be kept away about 5mt distance and the LPG cylinder will be covered with proper sheeting.
3.    If required the fall arrestor will also be provided.
4.    Before cutting the scrap it will be anchored with the rope to avoid falling down and after cutting, it will be shifted at scrap material stacking area and all the temporary arrangement should be removed.
5.    No heavy scrap available at height.
6.    During scrap hook cutting, it will be ensured that the electrical cables are not damaged by cutting process. All protection measures will be adopted to avoid any hazard at site.
SAFETY PRECAUTIONS:-
Ø  All workmen will use the proper P.P.E. (Shoes, Helmet, Hand gloves, Safety Belt, Goggles etc.
Ø  The other safety requirements as per safety rule will be ensured.
Ø  The proper work men will be deputed for the work.
Ø  Signal will be given by fire watcher only.
Ø  Proper barricading will be provided.
Ø  During hot work fire fighting arrangement will be provided & spatter falling down control measures will be taken.

EMERGENCY PROCEDURE:-

1.    Site emergency vehicle
2.    First aid arrangement.
3.    Deployment of safety officer to deal with emergency and rescue if required.


DEPLOYED STAFF TO PERFORM ABOVESAID WORK:-

The following staff member will execute and monitor the whole activity for assuring the     successful and safe completion of all work in C.T.Riser Pipe U# 1 & 3 & 4
